DEFAMATION LAW

Slander. Libel. These all occur under the broad heading of defamation, also known as calumny. If someone says or prints, or otherwise reports a lie about you that is defamation and you may have legal recourse. Most defamation requires proof of damages, either physical or monetary. However, if you were falsely reported to have committed a crime, this is defamation per se and the damages are presumed on your part.
